mCHEZA ‘engineers’ fresh Jackpot winner

John Manase Buko, a mechanical engineer from Tana River County is now a millionaire courtesy of his Ksh 24.8 Million mCHEZA Jackpot win on Sunday 12 June.

The engineer who works for a Power Plant in Mombasa while receiving his award on Wednesday 15 June in Nairobi admitted to being a regular better and losing on certain occasions but revealed that he had only confided to his uncle about the bounty harvest this time. The 29 year old has some advice to potential millionaires courtesy of mCHEZA to ensures that they conduct extensive research on the games and the teams’ history to be better placed to win the jackpot.

-This is not the first time I have placed bets; I have had my fair share of losses. I therefore learnt to study the matches and the teams, keep records of their previous performance then place my bets. I am grateful that with all the research and hard work, I have finally won the jackpot, said John.

Plans in place

Though the mCHEZA Chief Executive Officer Peter Karimi expressed commitment that the platform would continue support him with financial advice, Buko already has plans for the newly acquired cash as he intends to use it to set up a vehicle service station, in line with his passion for mechanical engineering. The engineer will also stick to his profession and acknowledged the support of his uncle Eng. Mwaka Mungatana who was with him to receive his reward.

-Even though I have won today, I am passionate about mechanical engineering so I will still go back to work. The power plant enables me maximize my potential as an engineer, and also creates an opportunity for me to set up my garage business. I would like to thank my uncle for holding my hand through it all, he said.

Real transformation

The soft-spoken twin and the second of six children has not had it easy through life though as he was forced to set up small scale businesses to get through school.

-We are happy that we have been able to transform John’s life today, bringing him closer to his dreams. I would like to encourage our customers to play wisely and have fun in the process. Additionally, as you place your bet, part of it is changing lives of talented sports persons, and building their sporting careers,” said mCHEZA Director Julie Gichuru.

Among the event attendees included representatives from Betting Control and Licensing Board and financial advisors, Viva Consulting.
