Newly promoted Club Newcastle United are of interest to a Chinese association for a potential takeover.
The owner of The Magpies Mike Ashley has received significant international investment interest in recent weeks, including one party from China. Ashley, who has reportedly tried to sell the north-east club twice in the past, is now considering all options open to him.
In 2015, Ashley insisted he would not sell the club unless they had won a trophy or qualified for the Champions League. Newcastle will feature in the 2017/18 top flight campaign after winning the Championship title by a point over Brighton, which saw them get promotion. Should the Magpies accept the Chinese offer, they will become the second club to be owned by Chinese in the Premier League alongside West Brom.
Championship clubs Aston Villa, Birmingham City and Wolves also have Chinese owners.
