Shield: Lack of funds prompts Police pull out

Police Head Coach Charles Korea Omondi has hinted at the clubs not participating in the Shield tournament that is scheduled to kick off on June 24.

Coach Korea stressed that club will not be taking part in the match anticipated Shield tournament. He pointed out that lack of funds as the reason. He noted that his team was capitalizing on the long break to perfect on the key areas ahead the resumption of the National Super League. He noted that he was participating in a tournament where he was evaluating with his players and how his new players were gelling with the other players.

-We shall not be taking part in this years Shield tournament; we don't have enough funds hence we can not participate. However, I have been evaluating the players in Ushirika tournament. I want to see how my new players and my other players are gelling; I am also using this an opportunity to regroup ahead of the second leg. We are perfecting on key areas, he lamented.

Police has drawn 2-2 with Isibania and lost 1-3 against Nairobi Stima in its last two matches. Its next league fixture will be against St Joseph on July 12.
