The Blues have reportedly completed the signing of ex-Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Frenchman penned a five-year deal on Saturday after the Premier League champions successfully negotiated a £40m switch with the Ligue 1 powerhouse. The 22-year-old was handed the No. 14 shirt and is being touted to replace the outgoing Nemanja Matic in boss Antonio Conte’s versatile squad.
Bakayoko was all smiles at his unveiling, where the midfield dynamo admitted that he was happy to join a great team, which he watched growing up making his move to the Stamford Bridge the “natural thing” to do. Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo revealed that the decision to sign the midfield maestro made sense after the youngster as a key contributor to Monaco’s success in both local and international competition last season.
The signing is Chelsea’s third this summer after acquiring centre-back Antonio Rudiger from Roma for £35m and goalie Willy Caballero from Manchester City on a free transfer.
