Manchester City have successfully acquired midfielder Douglas Luiz from CR Vasco da Gama.
The Citizens proudly disclosed that the 19-year-old penned a five-year contract worth around £10.7m, hot on the heels of the unveiling of former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker, who joined Pep Guardiola’s side in a stunning £50m move.
Luiz emerged as one of Vasco’s best players in the recently concluded campaign, a fete which not only earned the youngster the admiration of City scouts sent to watch him, but also a call-up to his native country’s U-20 squad, where the Brazilian continued to impress.
City immediately announced that the standout will be heading to “sister” club Girona FC in Spain, where the midfield maestro will look to get more consistent playing time to aid his development.
