No show for 'sacrificed' Olunga as Guizhou sneak with victory

An ostracized Michael Olunga missed from Guizhou Zhicheng match-day squad as the Chinese Super League side ran out 4-3 winners against Hebei China in a clash played on Saturday 23 July at the Guiyang Olympic stadium.

Nikica Jelavic, Festus Baise Min Julin and Chang Feiya scored for Guizhou as a brace from Ezekiel Lavezzi saw the visitors just short of sealing a comeback.

Replaced?

Olunga who was demoted to Guizhou's reserves a week ago was nowhere in the teamsheet with Spanish new-signing pair of Robert Castro and midfielder Mario Suarez both getting starting nods.

Hard decisions

The Chinese foreign quota rule stipulates that only three players are named in the match day squad, a rule that has forced the CSL newcomers to hard decisions with Olunga and Egyptian Ali Ghazal being sacrificed.

The Kenyan international is reportedly eyeing a move away from the club, he joined at start of the year from Sweden.
