Harambee Stars midfielder set to ditch Belgian top tier side for second tier

Kenyan Central midfielder Johanna Omolo is set to ditch his club Royal Antwerp for Cercle Brugge Koninklijke Sportvereniging.

The Kenyan star played for nine minutes as  Antwerp faced off with Sint-Truiden in a preseason match that ended in a 1-1 on Saturday. It was Antwerp's final preseason match ahead of the top tier campaign that is set to kick off in on 28 August.

Not training

According to Belgian Outlets De Standaard and Voetballkrant the Harambee Stars midfielder is no longer training with Antwerp that is set to kick off their top flight campaign against Anderlecht as he is finalizing his move to Cercle.

-Johanna Omolo seems to leaving Antwerp. The Kenyan midfielder is not training at The Great Old and would be negotiating with Cercle Brugge, which made 18 transfers this summer, Voetballkrant reported.

It is a surprise move as he will be leaving a side that he helped gain top flight promotion for a second tier. The former Coast Stars player joined Antwerp from Lommel United. In 2015 he extended his contract that was set to expire in 2019.

He received his first call for Harambee Stars in 2010.
