Joining African Champs? Harambee Stars defender speaks on Brazillian links

Kenyan defender Brian Mandela has admitted that South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns approached his club Maritzburg with an interest of signing him.

Earlier reports from the country indicated that the defender had not reported back to Maritzburg training and his next stop was at Pretoria based club, Mamelodi Sundowns. The defender later explained that he delayed to link up with Maritzburg due to visa issues. He has revealed that he never had direct talks with the Brazilians because they approached the club and not him.

Willing or not?

The Harambee Stars defender however did not state whether he is willing to join the 2016 CAF Champions but insisted that he still loves his current employers. -Of course, Mamelodi Sundowns did approach the club, not me. They spoke to the club, not me. I didn't have any contact with the guys there [at Sundownsof course, he told kick off

-We'll see what happens. But at the moment I'm here . I have a contract running until 2019 so I'm a player of Maritzburg United. I'm still here. I love Maritzburg, but whatever happens, it'll happen, he added.

Mandela helped the side finish eighth on the league standings last season.
