Africa football giants Egypt will be making their CHAN debut against Morocco when the sides clash in a North Zone qualifier campaign on August 13, 2017 in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Pharoahs have never taken part in the tournament and their hurdle remain arch rivals Morocco as their quest for debut appearance look realistic. CHAN is set to be hosted in Kenya in January and February 2018. Egypt boast of vibrant home league where the teams have produced outstanding national players that clinched back to back AFCON titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010. CHAN is designed for local players in the continent.
U-20 coach Hamada Sedki who has taken temporary charge of the team has expressed optimism that his side is going to edge Morocco. Sedki was the assistant coach in the team that won AFCON treble.
-We have to do our work whatever the obstacles are. It is never going to be easy, but we will play to the last hoping to record the best results, Sedki said.
The reverse fixture will take place on August 18 in Rabat with the host hoping to make their third appearance after the ones in South Africa, and Rwanda in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
