Everton have officially acquired former Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson on a five-year deal.
The Toffees had been after the Iceland international all summer and even tried to land twice before, though unsuccessfully. However, a club record fee of £45m was enough to convince the Swans to let go of their prized asset.
In the press conference following his unveiling, Sigurdsson expressed his delight at moving to Goodison Park, where the midfield maestro hopes to continue creating and scoring goals to contribute to the success the English side are aiming at.
The 27-year-old, who scored nine goals and assisted 13 last season to help Swansea escape relegation, broke the transfer record fee set when Everton acquired forward Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for £31.8m in 2014.
