Watford have reignited their interest in Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs.
According to reports, talks are ongoing over a possible move for the England international after Arsenal indicated they are willing to drop their oring asking price of £15 million. That valuation put off a host of interested clubs including Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth and forced Watford to turn to other targets including Middlesbrough defender George Friend. West Brom quickly ended their interest after Arsenal rejected an offer earlier in the summer.
However, the club are now thought to be willing to do business at around £7m having told Gibbs he can leave after entering the final year of his contract. The left-back’s representatives have held talks with Galatasaray and an unnamed German club but he would prefer to remain in England.
Gibbs is keen to secure first-team football to kick-start his career after starting just 11 Premier League matches in the last two seasons having fallen behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order at left-back prior to manager Arsene Wenger’s switch to a 3-4-2-1 system
