Vihiga United assistant coach Francis Xavier has faulted the referee for his side's one all draw against Modern Coast in a National Super League match played at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Wednesday 6 September.
Vihiga were forced to settle for a point after Modern Coast were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage, a result that dented Edward Manoah's side surge towards promotion to the Kenyan Premier League.
Xavier has lamented the penalty awarded to Modern Coast among other calls he says went against his side.
-My boys played well, we controlled the game well only to concede a goal in extra from a dubious penalty. I think the referee wasn't at his best yesterday, he let Modern Coast players get away with dangerous tackles, denied us a crystal clear penalty, gave our opponents all 50/50 challenges and ended up giving them a penalty when my player chested the ball. All in all we have to be contented with a point although we were very close to getting three from the match. We shift out focus to our next league match, Xavier told Futaa.com.
Vihiga remains top in the NSL with 51 points
