Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly interested in acquiring Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.
Sources claim that Pep has identified the Belgian as current option Vincent Kompany’s successor after missing out on the chance to sign West Brom standout Jonny Evans in the recently concluded transfer window.
Alderweireld’s current deal with Tottenham is set to expire in 2020 and the defensive specialist is rumoured to have failed to agree on the terms of a contract extension with Mauricio Pochettino’s side - a development which puts interested teams on high alert since the centre-back will be available for signing as soon as next summer.
City must however be willing to spend around £60m to acquire the 28-year-old, a figure considerable more than than the £35m West Brom were demanding for Evans.
