Look back Gor Mahia! Sofapaka thrash Chemelil to keep title quest alive

Sofapaka has kept their Kenya Premier League  title quest alive after thrashing Chemelil Sugar 4-1 at their home turf Narok Stadium on September 9, 2017.

Hot shot Umaru Kasumba netted a hat trick that not only handed his side maximum points but also propelled his dream of toppling Ulinzi Stars Stephen Waruru from the KPL top scorers table.

Ezekiel Okare added the fourth for Batoto Ba Mungu thus adding their point tally from 38 to 41 and maintaining a six gap point with league leaders Gor Mahia. Collins Neto netted the visitors goal in the 21st minute from an Erastus Mwaniki's cross.

Chemelil had to play with one man down after their goalkeeper John Wau had been red carded for handling the ball outside the box. On fire Sofapaka scored their goals within two minutes past half hour mark in before adding the rest in the 54th minute and 70th minute.

After the red card, youngster Richard Aimo was sent to guard the posts and Mwaniki went out instead.

The 2009 champions will now shift focus to their next midweek clash against Ulinzi Stars at Afraha Stadium.
