KPL lethal striker sets eye on Golden Boot after hattrick

Sofapaka hot shot Umaru Kasumba has insisted that his dream of being a top scorer in the Kenya Premier League is well alive after assisting his team down Chemelil sugar at Narok Stadium on September 9.

Kasumba scored a hat trick in the match added his tally of goals to nine just two below current league top scorer Stephen Waruru of Ulinzi Stars. The Ugandan also received the club's Best Player and Best Scorer awards for August.

-As I said before, I have set certain bench marks one of which is being at the top of the score chart at the end of the season. I will continue scoring as long as I will be fielded. I must thank my fellow players for their input because were it not for them I would not be scoring, Kasumba told the club portal.

Sofapaka kept their hope of regaining the title they last won in 2009 though still shy of catching up with leaders Gor Mahia who maintained a six point gap after their win against Nzoia Sugar. Sofa will play Ulinzi Stars in the midweek clsh on Wednesday at Afraha stadium.
