Juventus have reportedly abandoned their interest in acquiring Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta.
The Serie A giants have been heavily linked with the midfield maestro, whose current contract with the Catalans is set to expire at the end of the season after spending more than two decades with the La Liga powerhouse.
Juve CEO Giuseppe Marotta has however revealed that the club will now explore other options because he believes that the 33-year-old ‘is going to sign a contract extension’ because ‘he is a very important footballer’ for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Iniesta is arguably synonymous with the word ‘Barca’, having featured in over 450 matches for the Blaugranas, which has seen the skipper win eight La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies among other notable awards.
