Vihiga United to field a 'fresh' team against AFC Leopards

Vihiga United boss Edward Manoah says he will give a number of fringe players a chance to impress when they take on AFC Leopards in a Shield Tournament semi final match on Sunday 24 September at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru County.

Vihiga booked a semis slot after seeing off reigning champions Tusker in the quarters. Leopards on the other hand demolished National Super League side, Wazito FC to book a date with the NSL leaders.

Ahead of the game, Manoah says he will give a number of his fringe players a run in. He adds that they have to balance between their league assignments and Cup matches.

Priorities

-We have to get our priorities right. We have a number of tough league matches and we need to have a fully fit and ready team for these games. On Sunday I will give those who haven't played much a chance, I will field a fresh team, it doesn't mean we do not want to win the Shield but we shouldn't take a risk by over-playing some of our players. We have depth in the team and I believe anyone given a chance will deliver, he said.

Despite the changes he says he will ring,  former Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards tactician believes his side has what it takes to beat Robert Matano's charges.

Knockout

-A knockout match is very unpredictable, few expected us to beat Tusker and we ousted them with ease so I believe if we give our best against AFC Leopards then we will  have a chance of qualifying for the final, he added.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 1430 hrs.
