Gor Mahia ready for tricky Mathare

Gor Mahia is revisiting history against Mathare United before the sides meet in the Kenya Premier League action in which both sides will cherish a win.

Gor Mahia is currently leading the pack with sixty points while Mathare is in a relegation dog fight as it is pegged with the same points as Western Stima and Thika United.

-As tough as it may sound, the numbers or stats on my records reveal otherwise. You remember the famous comeback at Nyayo after Gor had gone down 2-0 under Logarusic? I know the 1-1 draw in 2015 is still fresh in our minds after they almost ruined the unbeaten record – we thank former player Enock Agwanda for that brave throw ball that yielded the draw, the club stated in its preview.

-Worth noting, the biggest score line we’ve seen in this fixture was a 4-2 thumping at City stadium under former coach Frank Nuttall in a season opener where striker Michael Olunga announced his arrival at Gor, the preview continued.

Mathare is one of the sides that dumped the fifteen times champions with a solitary goal from Cliff Nyakeya in the first leg encounter.
