90, assist for Mariga in double over Cordoba

Kenyan International and veteran Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga played the entire match as his Spanish Segunda Division side Real Aviedo stormed into the midtable with a comfortable 2-0 win over their Sunday 22 October opponents Cordoba in their league match at the Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere (Oviedo).

Mariga produced a powerful assist flicking the ball through a defensive gap in the match for the second goal netted in the fourth minute of added time by Spanish attacker and substitute Diego Johannesson Pando who had come on for midfielder and country-mate Aaron Niguez in the 79th minute.

This was the second appearance for the former Real Sociedad, Inter Milan, Parma and US Latina player with the former two sides opting to loan him out while the latter was relegated at the close of the last season leaving him clubless.

This was a shot in the arm for Mariga with the coach's gamble to field the Kenyan working perfectly with the win after he [coach Anquala] expressed concern over the team's commitment challenging the players to seek perfection and have desire on the pitch with a view to correct the situation now.

With the performance therefore, Mariga is expected to be seen regularly as the team fights for a top quarter place into the next match.
