With Zimbabwe confirming their CECAFA participation, Kenya and co will have to be on top of their form to ensure the Southerners do not run with the trophy.
Zimbabwe is the current COSAFA Champions, a tournament that comprises big Africa football guns like South Africa and Zambia. The Warriors, as they are known cruised past a tough Group B that consisted of Mozambique, Seychelles and Madagascar.
Zimbabwe saw off their neighbours Swaziland 2-1 in the quarter-finals after easing past the group stages unbeaten. The warriors too enjoyed a record of a team that scored most goals with the biggest casualties being Seychelles 5 -0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Mozambique fell to them again after letting 6-0 goals into their net.
Ruthless Zimbabwe stamped their authority again in the semis as they sent home Lesotho after winning the fixture 4-3. In the finals, they beat Chipolopolo of Zambia 3-1 at Maruleng Stadium to go home with heads high more so lifting the Castle Lager sponsored cup against odds.
They are competitors, not participants. So Harambee Stars and Stanley Okumbi be warned of the impending threat.
