Vihiga United assistant coach Francis Xavier has urged his charges to win their remaining three matches in order to book a place in the Kenyan Premier League for 2018 season after flooring Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday 8 November at Mumias Sports Complex.
Goals from Bernard Ochieng and skipper Patrick Okullo helped Vihiga United move to second in the log and wins in their remaining league assignments will see them seal promotion to Kenya's top tier league for the first time in their short history. Speaking after the match, Xavier lauded his troops for showing commitment and urged them to maintain the same till the close of the current NSL campaign.
-The boys played very well and I must commend them. From the start to the end we showed total commitment and maintained our focus throughout the game to win it. City Stars played well and I feel their weekend win over Ushuru was no fluke, they are a good side and they gave a good account of themselves.
-We are at a stage where we have to maintain high focus, there is no room for any slip up because it will prove to be very costly looking at how tight the race is. We will have to win all our matches and see what happens at the end of the season, he said.
Next for Edward Manoah coached side is an away match against Palos FC scheduled for Wednesday 15 November at Moi Stadium in Kisumu. A win will boost their chances of coming top in the tightly contested race.
