A Vincent Oburu early goal was all that AFC Leopards needed to down stubborn Chemelil Sugar 1-0 side in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played at Moi Kasarani Stadium on Sunday 12 November to avenge for their first leg loss to the millers.
Leopards started the match strongly and went ahead in the 8th minute when Vincent Oburu latched onto a Salim Abdallah pass before firing past Jairus Adira on Chemelil goal. Four minutes later Burundian forward Alexis Kitenge saw his snapshot miss the target by inches as Ingwe went all out in search of a second goal.
Chemelil barely threatened Ingwe in the opening stages but won a couple of fruitless corners which Leopards easily cleared. Jeffery Odeny had good chance to draw the visitors level towards the half hour mark but the youngster blasted the chance wife.
Andrew Tololwa had a glorious chance to double Ingwe lead at the half hour mark after being fed by Musa Mudde but his ferocious drive came off the upright much to the relief of the visitors. Leopards took a 1-0 lead to the break.
Balanced second half
The start to the second half was even as Ingwe went out in search of a second goal while the millers in dire need of an equalizer showed improvement threatening Ingwe's rare guard.
Saphan Siwa came close for the visitors in the 53rd minute but the midfielder couldn't keep his cool blasting wide from close range. John Mwita wasted another Chemelil chance minutes later skying his effort.
The game slowly degenerated to an end to end battle. Oburu had a chance to double Ingwe's lead at the hour mark but Adira did well to deny the youngster.
Chemelil piled pressure on Leopards as the clock ticked, Siwa and Collins Neto had chances to draw the side level in the 72nd and 77th minutes but once again poor finishing let them down as Ingwe opted to employ and defensive approach.
Adira did well to deny Marselas Ingotsi and Oburu late on as Ingwe avenged for their first leg defeat.
