Kakamega Homeboyz forward Jeremiah Wanjala has been named September SJAK player of the month during an award's ceremony held at the Mumias Sports Complex on Tuesday 14 November.
The former SoNy Sugar man performed well in the month of September finding the back of the net twice and registered two assists. His good show has helped him bag September player of the month accolade.
Wanjala known saw off competition from Gor Mahia's Meddie Kagere and Kariobangi Sharks hitman Masoud Juma to bag the award. The attacker garnered a total of 19 votes four more than Kagere who came in second. Masoud finished third with 14 votes.
He is the sixth player to bag the award after Nzoia defender Brian Otieno, Ulinzi forward Steven Waruru, Gor Mahia midfielder Ernest Wendo, Zoo midfielder Michael Madoya and Gor Mahia striker, George Odhiambo who were feted for outstanding performances in March, April, May and June/July, August respectively.
The SJAK Player of the Month Award is sponsored by LG Electronics and betting firm SportPesa. This feat will see Wanjala walk away with a 49 inch LG TV set, a personalized trophy and Ksh. 100,000. The club also gets Ksh. 50,000 in addition to the individual award.
