Manchester United are reportedly interested in acquiring Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
Sources claim that United boss Jose Mourinho has been a long-time fan of the Spaniard and plans to secure the 22-year-old’s move to Old Trafford in order to further bolster his attacking options in the midfield, which has constantly fallen short of expectations in the absence of £89.3m-man Paul Pogba.
Niguez has quickly established himself as a regular in Diego Simeone’s squad, subsequently earning himself a fresh nine-year contract with the Rojiblancos that includes an absurd £133m release clause meant to keep interested parties at bay.
The midfield maestro has however admitted being open to making the switch to United if the two clubs can agree on a deal - a development which puts the ball squarely in the English giants’ court, or pitch in this case.
