Arsenal will reportedly make another attempt at acquiring Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling come January.
Reputable sources that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is seriously considering to ask that the Englishman again be included as part of a potential swap deal between the two clubs for wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez in the upcoming transfer window, rather than risk losing the Chilean to their bitter rivals for nothing when the marksman’s current contract at the Emirates expires next summer.
This development will undoubtedly come as a surprise to Arsenal fans since Wenger has been a vocal critic of Sterling of late, evidenced by the tactician’s decision to label the former Liverpool star a ‘diver’ for orchestrating an ‘unfair’ penalty in their recent 3-1 loss to Pep Guardiola’s side.
City is however unlikely to let a key piece of their squad leave, with Daily Mail alleging that the league leaders are ready to abandon their interest in Sanchez should Arsenal demand that Sterling, who has scored seven goals and assisted two in nine Premier League appearances this season, be included in the deal.
