Manchester United is on red-alert, and reportedly angling to make a move for Senegal and Sarpsborg 08 wonderkid Krepin Diatta.
Diatta, who was recently named the Young Player of the Year in the Norwegian league, has been followed by Manchester United closely and a move is said to be imminent. Multiple media sources have confirmed that United boss Jose Mourinho has previously sent out scouts to watch the player.
Diatta impressed at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations back in March, helping Senegal reach the final, and has had an amazing season at club level.
Sarpsborg sporting director, Thomas Berntsen has further, confirmed that the highly priced youngster was a prime target for big clubs in Europe.
-What I can say is that there are many clubs watching Diatta. The clubs that are looking at him are clubs with big wallets. He will cost a lot of money, without any shadow of doubt, he told Norwegian media.
The Senegal ace has further expressed desire to make a move, saying that time was ripe to move.
-I think about a transfer, a lot. I think the best thing for me is to find something other than Sarpsborg. I had a good season here, I scored goals, was crucial and voted best young player. I did what I had to do. If now there’s an opportunity to join a new and big club, it’ll be a window for me to get to the World Cup, he said this week.
The Red Devils have dipped into the Norwegian market before with great success. They snapped up club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from Molde in 1996.
