Pochettino encourages 'charming' Wanyama

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has described his midfielder Victor Wanyama as a jovial player whenever he is involved in the action

Wanyama made the much-awaited start in the FA Cup third round against Wimbledon where two goals from Harry Kane and one from Jan Vertonghen gave Tottenham a 3-0 win over the League One side at Wembley Stadium.

Notoriously a jovial character off the pitch, Pochettino also acknowledged how tough the period has been for 26 years old, declaring:

- He’s always smiling when he’s involved but when he’s not involved or he’s injured, like any player, he’s not happy.

- It’s been tough for him but that’s football and it happens. You have to be strong, Spurs boss said on the Kenyan return.

The Harambee Stars captain has been absent for over four months following a knee injury initially sustained over the summer, and subsequently aggravated in training prior to the clash with Burnley at Wembley in August.
