Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has reportedly urged the club’s board to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
English news outlet The Telegraph has claimed that the Godfather is wary that bitter rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are out to cement their dominance in the league by acquiring the Chilean this January - a development which has prompted the tactician to recommend that they sign the marksman in order to gain the upper hand themselves.
The Blues were rumoured to be among the list of potential suitors who hoped to pry the 29-year-old from the Emirates last summer before Arsenal withdrew their offer of selling the former Barcelona star after the English side failed to secure a replacement in time.
Sanchez’s hefty £400,000-a-week salary demands were said to be the other fact that had previously put Chelsea off but the defending champions now appear ready to consider improving their previous offer in order to land the talisman.
