Badr Yassin was named 2017 Kenyan Premier League referee of the year during an awards ceremony held on Friday 12 January in Nairobi.
Badr beat Anthony Ogwayo and Davies Omweno to the award, Ogwayo came in second while Omweno finished third. The winner was awarded Ksh. 200,000, the runners-up Ksh. 75,000 while the third-placed ref walked home with Ksh. 50,000.
In the assistant referee of the year category, Fifa referee Aden Marwa bagged the award ahead of Gilbert Cheruiyot and Caroline Kiles; the pair finished second and third respectively.
The winner was awarded Ksh. 100,000, second-placed walked home with Ksh. 75,000 while the third-placed assistant referee was awarded Ksh. 50,000.
