The Coast Regional Chapa Dimba finals that were scheduled to take place this weekend, 13th to 14th January 2018, have been pushed back by one week.
According to the Regional Coordinator Michael Karanja, the change of date has been necessitated by circumstances beyond control but urged fans to expect nothing but the best of action and talent.
-Due to unavoidable circumstances the Coast Regional Chapa Dimba finals initially set for Saturday 13th 2018 have been postponed to 20th and 21st January 2018, said Karanja.
Karanja further confirmed that the venue for the finals will be Shanzu Teachers Training College. Last week, a team of inspectors from Nairobi toured both Shanzu Training Teachers College and Shimo Bortal on an inspection visit. The team assessed the suitability of the pitches as well as hotels and accommodation facilities and other logistics.
The recommendations of the inspection team were forwarded to Nairobi for confirmation. The Coast Regional Chapa Dimba finals will involve Shimanzi Boys from Mombasa, Shimba Hills Boys Secondary and Waa girls from Kwale and St. Johns Kaloleni Girls (South Coast).
BreezeHam Boyz and Solwogidi girls from Malindi, Iqra from Hola from Hola and Kilifi Queens (North Coast). The winners in the regional finals in the boys category will earn cash award of Ksh 200,000 while the runners-up Kshs 100,000. The winners in the girls category will pocket Kshs 100,000 and runners-up 50,000 besides earning state of art mobile phones for each player.
Meanwhile, FKF South Coast Branch in its effort to develop and strengthen the capacity of coaches will in conjunction with Safaricom Chapa Dimba initiative held a one-day coaching course on Friday, January 12th, 2018 in Mombasa.
The course targets 70 from Mombasa, Kwale Kaloleni and Taita Taveta County.
