There was no surprise as Manchester City was forced to settled for a 1-1 draw by Burnley. Danilo's cracker was cancelled by Gudmundsson with only eight minutes remaining to full time.
It wasn’t a different start from Guardiola’s men. Pushing forward for the title and trying to grab an early goal from resilient homeside Burnley.
With 5 minutes of play, team doctors were called to attend for Burnley star Barnes. City defender Vincent Kompany rose above the forward, landing awkwardly. A minute later, Otamendi flicked ball from corner near post, Kompany rose highest to head the ball which resulted to collision of players and referee was forced to stop the match. The hosts had a number of injury concerns with Vokes and Bardsley laying down in the penalty.
Burnley trio were attended to and the match resumed.
The visitors continued to look for an opener, producing a patient build-up in a bid to penetrate Burnley’s defense. Their patience paid after 22 minutes of play. City’s left back Danilo opened the scoring for Guardiola’s men. De Bruyne took a short corner to Bernardo Silva, who rolled it back across the pitch to Danilo. The defender took a touch before curling an effort from 25 yards beyond the dive of Pope and into the top corner. What a goal!
Fact zone - Danilo is the 6th different Man City player to score from outside the penalty area in PL this season. City have scored 10 in total, joint most with Manchester United.

Dominant City continued to enjoy much of possession in the second half despite struggling to get the second goal. Burnley failed to threaten, as the Citizens pressed them into their own half. Danilo continued to shine and he almost grabbed his second of the game. Guardiola’s men took a short corner, working the ball towards Danilo, who took a shot but it this time Pope got his fingers to the ball.
The hosts came close to equalizing in the 69th minute. Persistent passes saw Burnley open up City’s defense. After exchange of some good passes inside box left Lennon in shooting space, he drilled the ball towards the top corner from 12 yards but Ederson got fingertips to the ball, tipping it onto the crossbar.
City responded a minute later. De Bruyne played walker in behind, with the full-back drilling a low cross across the face of goal to where Sterling was. From inside the six yard box, he failed to hit the target, missing an open goal.
Quick passing and high pressing from Burnley confused City defenders. The Citizens were easily caught on counter-attacks and badly exposed on the wings. With only 8 minutes of play remaining, Burnley were level through Gudmundsson. Pressure was piling for City since Sterling’s miss, Lowton produced a low cross with Gudmundsson reacting first, meeting it at the far post before poking the ball past Ederson and into the back of the net.
