United target reportedly agrees to join City

Fred has agreed to join Manchester City.

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred will join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the summer, his former manager has revealed. The 24-year-old caught the eye of several European giants this term and well impressed when his side faced City in the group stages of the Champions League.

“Shakhtar Donetsk’s best player is Fred in the centre of midfield. He was a bit anarchic on the left. I moved him in front of the defense. He will go to City,” revealed Turkey boss Mircea Lucescu. Fred is valued at around £50m, an amount that can be described as ‘peanuts’ to both Manchester clubs.

Interesting fact

Fred was brought in by Shakhtar in 2013 to replace Fernandinho who had left to join City. The two Brazilians might now play together in what would be a mouthwatering midfield partnership if Fred does join the Cityzens.

Jose Mourinho earlier said that United need to bring in at least one midfielder this summer, and as it stands now, it will not be Fred.
