Arsene Wenger has conceded Arsenal have themselves to blame following North London defeat to Tottenham at Wembley.
The Gunners lost 1-0 with Harry Kane making the difference during the clash. The win saw Spurs go seven points clear of their rivals. It was Kane again, the England international scored his seventh goal against Arsenal. Ben Davies whipped a cross, with Kane heading the ball past Cech and into the back of the net. Wenger had initially suggested on the touchline that Kane had fouled Laurent Koscielny but he backtracked during press conference admitting his defenders should have done more.
“The first goal was key and we conceded it. I have seen the replay and it is no foul, just good centre-forward play. We can only look at ourselves. In the first half we missed three or four opportunities on the counter attack which is difficult to swallow, always the final ball. We contained them to very little,” said Wenger.
Arsenal shot stopper Cech has now failed to keep a clean sheet in any of his last nine Premier League appearances. Longest ever run in the competition.
