Kariobangi Sharks and Vihiga United played to a two all draw in a Kenyan Premier League match staged in Machakos on Sunday 11th.
After a barren first half, Andrew Murunga grabbed a brace for the visitors while Eric Kapaito and Ebrimah Sanneh ensured Sharks got a share of the spoils.
The game was even in the opening stages with both teams striving to take control of the clash. The first chance went to Sharks in the 5th minute but Barnabas Tiema did well to save a Patillah Omoto free-kick.
Minutes later Ebrimah Sanneh shot directly at Tiema after being teed by Eric Kapaito. Bolton Omwenga had a go on goal in the 20th minute but his drive went narrowly wide.
Vihiga's first clear cut chance came at the half hour mark when Charles Okwemba's acrobatic effort went over the upright. The veteran midfielder wasted another chance just before the break shooting directly at Sharks keeper, Gad Mathew after being put through on goal by Andrew Murunga. Murunga too squandered another chance seconds later wide from inside the penalty area.
A minute after the restart Vihiga took the lead through Andrew Murunga. A long throw in from Edwin Mukoya was flicked by Dennis Wafula and Murunga was there to head past Mathews.
The lead lasted for just six minutes as Ebrimah Sanneh drew the hosts level with a header from a James Mazembe delivery. Two minutes later Sharks completed the comeback through Eric Kapaito who headed from another Mazembe cross.
The match was slowly turning to an end to end affair with both teams going all out in attack. A mistake from Gad Mathew in the 64th minute gifted Murunga a second goal. The ball slipped through the keeper's hands and the forward pounced rounding up the rookie keeper before firing into an empty net to draw the visitors level.
None of the sides could get the winner despite the numerous chances they created.
