Arsenal legend Ian Wright has named four signings that Arsenal need to complete in the summer transfer window. The Gunners enjoyed a positive January window despite concerns about Arsenal losing a number of key players.
Ultimately, Alexis Sanchez completed a move to Manchester United in a swap deal that saw Arsenal bring in Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The North London side signed Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a club record £56m deal from Borussia Dortmund on deadline day.
Arsenal offloaded Francis Coquelin, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott last month to free up room on the wage bill and start to rejuvenate his squad. The Gunners were 5-1 winners against Everton in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium last weekend to bring back some positivity to The Emirates.
However, Wenger’s side lost 1-0 to bitter derby rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday following Harry Kane’s winner. Former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Gunners still need address defensive issues in the squad at the end of the 2017-18 season.
“Arsenal need a proper defensive midfielder and they need two centre-halves, not just one,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live. I would also start looking for a goalkeeper as well.”
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table but five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC in the race to secure a Champions League spot.
