The National Super League weekend highlight, the Stima Derby pitting debutants Coast Stima against Coast Stima ended in a two-all draw on Saturday 24th at the Mbaraki Stadium.
The hosts started the match on a high netting two quick goals in the 10th and 12th minutes through Abbas Muhiddin and Kombo Collins respectively in what was a dramatic moment in the match.
Their Nairobi counterparts however were not taking it lying down and they brought the game to the hosts almost immediately. Their efforts were rewarded in the 23rd minute when former Tusker and Ghanaian forward Stephen Owusu netted the opener.
Nairobi Stima managed to level the scores only three minutes later in a replication of the previous goals moment by Coast Stima; this time Victor Ochami ensuring the balance.
Both sides then packed the bus and no goals were subsequently witnessed from the match that also acted as a curtain raiser for the KPL match between Bandari and another Nairobi based side Wazito FC.
At the Bukhungu Stadium, newly-promoted Green Commandoes slid to a loss from their shared spoils twice in a row against a weakened FC Talanta courtesy of a 3-1 loss' all scored in the second half.
Super-subs Anthony Gichu and Job Tinyo netted the goals for Talanta, the former snatching a brace courtesy of a header and a penalty before Tinyo sealed the win towards the end of the match to embarrass Commandoes in their own backyard. Talanta was coming from a similar loss to Nairobi City Stars in their last match and was missing the services of Victor Ashinga and Isaac Sadaam who were sent off.
In Kisumu, newly promoted Kisumu AllStars sealed a commendable 2-1 win against visiting GFE to secure the first win of the 2018 season and condemn their opponents to yet another loss
