Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez’s Facebook account has been hacked.
A statement purporting to have been published by the midfielder sent chills down the spines of football fans around the world after it suggested that the Algerian had decided to hung up his boots due to medical complications.
It read, “After the last consultation with many doctors, I’ve decided to stay away from football, As my time as a football player comes to an end, I would like to say few words. I want to thank everybody for the kindness and support they have shown me in this incredible city, you will be always in my heart”.
The development had made headlines before English news outlet Sky Sports thereafter confirmed that the midfield maestro was just another victim of cyber insecurity. An official response to the post has yet to be made.
