Chemelil Sugar came from behind to thump their hosts Nakumatt 4-1 on Sunday 11th March at the Machakos Stadium.
Philip Muchuma led the comeback from a goal down scoring a hattrick after Nakumatt's early goal. An own goal further dampened the Shoppers' hopes.
The hosts opted to stick back from the beginning but the visitors did not give them time as they attacked in search of an early killer.
An attempt from Brian Nyakan was pin-point but the keeper reacted on it quickly with a fine save in the 15th minute. Yusuf then came close with a corner in the 20th minute but the long ball landed on Mosoti's head who brushed it out for another corner but was poorly taken.
Nyakan finally opened the scores for Nakumatt from a Cornellius Juma cross for an easy tapping into the net. The hosts continued to press, this time a good freekick from Noah Abich but the goalkeeper showed great reflex.
The Millers got their equaliser in the 34th minute through Philip Muchuma from a counter attack. Chemelil were at it again, Muchuma still the main man after some lazy defending by Nakumatt.
Things fall apart
A good attempt from Nyakan followed but he couldn't find the net. Abich maintained his pressure through set pieces but all were cleared by hawk-eyed Chemelil defenders.
Chemelil then effected changes that later turned fruitful, pulling out Amani Kyata for Stephen Njoroge. Muchuma then again took advantage of poor defending from Nakumatt to bury the second in the 54th minute.
An own goal from Noah Abich then stretched Chemelil's lead to three goals after failing to clear thoroughly in the 62nd minute.
It was not Abich's good day as he fouled Maxwell Onyango in the box for a penalty which Muchuma converted for a hattrick in the match.
Rise on the standing
Chemelil then gained full control towards the end of the match with Boniface Mukhekhe being the only attempt for Nakumatt but it was fruitless.
With the win, Chemelil has now risen to the second place in the standings behind Gor Mahia who played Nzoia in Machakos.
