Terrific 'Dogo' opens up on football love and AWCON disappointment

Harambee Starlets young assassin Mwahalima Adam couldn’t help but reveal of her love for football as the youngster concluded a successful year with a top accolade in the annual SOYA awards last Thursday in Nairobi.

Speaking after bagging the most promising girl crown in the Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA), the Mombasa Olympic attacker termed dedication as key to winning the prize.

Love football

- Hard work hard and dedication in what I do is key to winning  this award. We  are advised to love what you do and keep on it. I love football to the bottom of my heart, she told futaa.

The budding attacker also revealed her disappointment after missing Starlets debut in the last edition of AWCON due to school commitments though she remains optimistic of Starlets capability of doing well in their next tasks.

AFCON run

- The team did their best against the formidable opponents like Ghana and Nigeria. It was our debut and coming up against such teams, they did their part. It was a disappointment(to miss the AWCON), It felt bad after being among those who helped see the dream realized by playing in the qualifiers, only to miss in the final due to exams but I’m confident we are capable of doing better next time as a team and an individual, she added.

Starlets were also crowned as the best team in the Women category after a remarkable run in the 2016 season.
