Disappointing start for Kenya's duo in the Champions League

Mariehamn FC home to Kenyan Internationals Amos Ekhalie and Anthony Clement Dafaa kicked off their champions League qualification campaign with a 3-0 loss to Legia Warszawa in match played at Wiklöf Hodling Arena.

Anthony Dafaa was red carded after 61 minutes of play. The midfielder was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

Legia scored all their goals in the opening half with the first goal coming at the eighth minute. Aapo Mäenpää pushed Lukasz Broz in the danger area and the referee pointed at the spot. Brazilian nationality Guilherme Costa converted the penalty for a 1-0 lead.  Dominik Nagy netted the second goal at the 39th minute.

Fate sealed

Their winning goal came at the 44th minute with Guilherme picking out Kasper Hämäläinen who chipped past Mariehamn keeper. Mariehamn managed to improve their defence in the final half but could not break Legia defence. Ekhalie clocked 90 minutes in the clash.

The two sides will face off in a return leg on July 19 and they will have to win 4-0 to go through.
