Barely a month after agreeing a new contract with PSL side, Free State Stars, Joseph Okumu has been officially released, with the club issuing a statement on the axing of the youngest member in its roster.

Reports have been rife in the media with Kick off speculating on the likelihood of the former Chemelil star leaving the rebuilding Eala Koto outfit.

His fate has finally been sealed after the club made public the news of his axing.

Released

-I can confirm that we have released another three players namely defenders Simphiwe Mtsweni, Kenyan Joseph Okumu and utility forward Thokozane Sekotlong, Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena told the club portal.

-The club wish the players the very best of luck in their future endeavours, the statement concluded.

His axing leaves Brian Mandela and Ali Abondo as the only two Kenyan plying their trade in South Africa's top tier league.
