Harambee Starlets newly appointed skipper Wendy Achieng bagged the winning goal five minutes from time as Spedag FC overcame rivals Mombasa Olympic 3-2 in a Women Premier League match staged at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday 3 September.

Having gone down 3-4 to Olympic in the first leg, Spedag who boast of a number of  Kenyan internationals went into the game in search of revenge against their bitter rivals. They however got to a disappointing start when Doris Anyango put the ball into her own net five minutes into the game. The lead lasted for eleven minutes before Cheris Avilia drew Spedag with a wonder volley after a poor clearance by Olympic defenders.

Spedag went all out after grabbing the equalizer in search of a second goal; Sharon Bushenei was denied by the offside flag in the 20th minute after connecting to a Wendy Achieng cut back. Bushenei finally got her goal in the 27th minute connecting to a Jacky Ogol's cross. Achieng nearly made 3-1 minutes later but her free-kick missed the target by inches while Esse Akida missed a sitter 6-yards out just before the break. Spedag took a 2-1 lead to the breather.

Two minutes after the restart, Linvix Achieng drew Olympic level firing home from close range. Both teams had a couple of chances to take the lead thereafter but were not clinical enough in front of goal.

Just as the match looked to headed for a stalemate, Wendy Ochieng fired home what initially looked to be a cross. The cross-cum shot beat Olympic keeper much to the delight of Spedag players and technical bench members. Kenyan international Mwanahalima Adam had a couple of chances to salvage her side a point deep into stoppage time but she fluffed.
