Western Stima will stay in danger of relagation at least for now after settling for a barren draw against visiting Kakamega Homeboyz in their midweek KPL match on Wednesday 13 September at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

The visitors also lost a chance to pile real pressure of Sofapaka at the helm of the standings despite the point. The match was largely a balanced affair from the onset with both sides making attempts in front of goal but the keepers were on the lookout.

Wycliffe Opondo got the first chance for the visitors in the fifth minute but he failed to direct his shot on target from a counter attack for a goalkick. Stima then came calling moments through Oromchan from a Marita cross but he also missed from close range, shot blocked by Juma.

Kakamega Homeboyz showed great prowess in set pieces executed by Eston Esiye and gotten through their various raids but the hosts seemed to have mastered this and tackled hard to keep their goalposts safe.

Early sub

Western Stima were forced into an early substitution with Sula Bagala being pulled put for a more offensive and aggressive Ezekiel Otuoma in the 38th minute. The moved almost bore fruits immediately with Oromchan crossing in from a counter only for Otuoma’s shot to be well dealt with by Juma between the posts for Homeboyz.

Oromchan then received the first booking for the match after fouling Ambunya at the stroke of halftime as the match settled for a barren draw into the halftime mark. Homeboyz were also first off the mark in the second half with experienced Collins Kisuya sending his freekick straight to Odhiambo after Geoffrey Ochieng had fouled Ambunya.

Both sides appeared to lay more emphasis on the attack and wings in their changes with Okoth being introduced by Stima in the midfield while Omukoto was brought on brought on board by Homeboyz but the nuts seemed hard to crack.

Not even the introduction of Ochomo for Wanjala could save the situation for Homeboyz who appeared to be attacking more towards the end of the match as they settled for a barren draw.

Stima next face SoNy Sugar while Kakamega Homeboyz head away to AFC Leopards.
