Kibera Black stars, Bidco share spoils at Toyoyo
Kibera Black Stars and Bidco United played to a one all draw in an entertaining National Super League match staged at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds on Friday 6 October.
Wilson Njuguna scored for Black Stars from the spot at the half hour mark after United keeper Mark Nyakundi fouled Henry Onyango inside the penalty area before substitute John Opwora drew United level in the 77th minute with a lovely low half-volley to ensure spoils were shared.
Bidco started the match strongly and had the first chance in the second minute from which Kassim Mwinyi headed over from inside the penalty area. Steven Oriko tried his luck from range three minutes later but it went way off target.
Former Sofapaka man John Walubuka had a great opportunity to put United ahead in the tenth minute after a good dummy that put him through on goal but his feeble shot was saved by Black Stars keeper Erick Ogwade.
Black Stars rarely threatened United but found themselves ahead at the hour mark when United keeper Mark Nyakundi fouled Stars strimer Henry Onyango inside the area and the red pointed to the spot; Wilson Njuguna stepped up to send Nyakundi the wrong side. Black Stars took a 1-0 lead to the break.
The start to the second half was even as both teams looked to get goals; Walubuka and David Juma has great opportunities to draw United level before the hour mark but Ogwade came to Black Stars rescue on both occasions. At the other end a last ditch tackle from George Amayo denied Henry Onyango who was through on goal.
In the 65th minute Bidco were denied by the crossbar when Heritier Luvualu's low free-kick evaded Black Stars wall. David Juma's follow up was saved by in form Black Stars keeper Ogwade.
A minute after his introduction, John Opwora drew United level in the 77th minute with a lovely low shot that beat Ogwade into the bottom left corner to earn his side a share of the spoils.
