SoNy Sugar came from a goal down to beat Vihiga United 2-1 in a Gotv Shield third position playoff match staged at Moi Kasarani Stadium on Friday 20 October.

Amos Kigadi gave Vihiga a first half lead before second half goal from George Abege and a Benjamin Mosha beauty won the millers the closely fought match.

Charles Okwemba

Vihiga United had the best chances of the first half with first coming from a Charles Okwemba free-kick in the 12th minute which went over the bar.A minute later Amos Kigadi attempted his luck from range but it was equally off target as the NSL giants looked to make their early raids count.

SoNy barely threatened Edward Manoah's side early on in the game registering zero shots in the first stanza. SoNy keeper Kevin Otieno was called into action in the 17th minute to deny Kevin Sagide who unleashed a shot from inside the penalty area. A rare chance for SoNy came in the 26th minute when Benjamin Mosha was put through on goal but the forward miskicked the ball allowing Vihiga keepee Franklin Mwenda to pick it.

Kigadi goal

Vihiga forward surges finally paid off in the 37th minute when they took the lead through lead striker Amos Kigadi. The striker controlled a wonderful Kevin Sigude  pass from midfield,  outmuscled SoNy skipper Kevin Oluoch before firing past Kevin Otieno on SoNy goal to give his side an advantage going into the break.
