Ramsey saves Arsenal

Arsenal came from a goal down to register a 2-1 win over Swansea City at Emirates. The Gunners found themselves behind in the first half courtesy of Clucas strike but goals from Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey ensured the home side collect maximum against resilient Swans, a win which saw Wenger's 800th Premier League game in charge of the club end in a victory.

It was a quiet start to the game with the home side knocking the ball around the middle third without too much urgency to hurt Swansea early on.  Arsenal got their first chance through Sanchez who delivered a dangerous free kick on the left, Koscielny got up well, heading the ball clearly but it went straight at Fabianski.

Arsenal continued to dominate the game but found themselves behind 22 minutes of play despite the visitors having just 23 per cent of the ball. Koscielny miscontrol allowed Abraham to get on the ball, and played a through to Clucas who tucked the ball to the back of the net.

With five minutes remaining to halftime, Fabianski made a brilliant save to deny the Gunners chance to be level. Sanchez got into a trademark position on the left of the box, looked for the top corner with a fierce effort, but the former Arsenal man ensured no goal for the hosts.

In the 45th minute captain Mertesacker made a huge mistake which could have gifted the Swans a 2-0 lead. The Germany international received the ball inside Arsenal’s box and Ayew robbed him, getting one-on-one with Cech who reacted quickly to block Ayew’s dink.

Wenger’s men needed a perfect response in the second half and they were level after just 6 minutes of play in the second half. It was a huge relief around the Emirates, good fighting from Lacazette in the box, kicking a backheel to Ozil whose effort was blocked falling in the path of Sead Kolasinac on the left of the box and the defender rifled it into the far corner past Fabianski.

7 minutes later Arsenal made a total turnaround, with Ramsey giving the home side a deserved lead. Xhaka found Kolasinac in acres on the left flank and he spotted Ramsey who was arriving into the box 10 yards out and the midfielder used his left foot to finish with a fine goal. Bellering went close to making it 3-1 in 67th minute but he was denied by crossbar.
