D-day for Ushuru, Vihiga and Wazito as NSL comes to an epilogue

Ushuru FC, Vihiga United and Wazito FC will all be out to seal promotion to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) for 2018 season when they play their last National Super League (NSL) matches of the season on Saturday 25 November.

Leaders Ushuru will take on second-placed Vihiga United at the Mumias Sports Complex in what will be the biggest match of the day as both teams are keen on finishing top in the National Super League(NSL). Wazito, on the other hand, have a relatively 'easier' match against Police FC that will be staged at Narok County Stadium.  The tax-men lead the park with 78 points,  one ahead of second-placed Vihiga and third-placed Wazito; Vihiga and Wazito are separated by goal difference.

A win for Vihiga will see them leapfrog Ushuru to top position and in the process seal an automatic promotion slot while a draw between the two top sides and a win for Wazito against AP will see Wazito finish top followed by Ushuru, Vihiga will then settle for a playoff spot. Wazito has an edge as the second tier league comes to a close as they just need to win their game to seal automatic promotion to the Kenyan Premier League irrespective of the outcome in the clash between Vihiga and Ushuru.

Xavier warning

Vihiga United assistant coach Francis Xavier understands the importance of the season finale but has warned his side against getting excited. Xaver has urged his charges to remain calm and focus on downing Ken Kenyatta's tax-men when they travel to Mumias.

-For us this is just a normal league match, we have played 35 matches, won 23, drew 8 and lost four so there is nothing really special that should get my players anxious, we need to approach it as any normal league match. Ushuru is a good, experienced side and we need to prepare well for the match and do our best. The most important thing is to maintain our focus, he told Futaa.com.

Fourth-placed KCB will host Modern Coast Rangers and will have to score at least seven goals and hope that Wazito loses to Kenya Police in order to earn a playoff spot. Recent slump against Isibania FC and St. Joseph's FC saw the former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side lose footing in the promotion chase.

At the bottom, Mosca FC is already relegated and Agro Chemicals will follow them into the third tier should the Kisumu based side fail to beat Nakuru based side and hope that Administration Police FC lose by a huge margin against relegated Mosca.
