Kenya Commercial Bank Simon Abuko has spoken out on their failed promotion quest saying it was not down to lack of trying.

The winger proved central to KCB's quest for KPL return, scoring 17 goals to finish as the league's joint top scorer with Vihiga Patrick Okullo. His feat was however, to count for less as late slip ups turned costly for KCB who ended up finishing outside the promotion playoff slot.

Learning curve

-The season was tough with its up and down. We did all within our capabilities but got undone late in it. It happens in football and we take it as a learning curve, he added.

- I've been keen on helping the team on best of my ability. Getting the 17 goals was personal feat. I thank my teammates for the run, he added.

The winger joined KCB at the start of the season from Leopards.
