United identify Fellaini ‘replacement’

Manchester United are reportedly interested in acquiring Benfica midfielder Bryan Cristante.

Sources claim that United boss Jose Mourinho has identified the Italian as a potential replacement for ‘contract rebel’ Marouane Fellaini after the Belgian recently rejected a contract extension offer from the English giants.

Cristante, who is currently on loan to Serie A side Atalanta, garnered the attention of top European teams after putting up spectacular displays in two Europa League group stage matches against Everton, where the 22-year-old scored three of the club’s total eight goals against the Toffees.

The midfield maestro’s loan deal to Atalanta allows the up-and-comers to the linchpin for £10m at the end of the season - a development which gives the club bargaining power to demand around £31m from potential suitors. League rivals Juventus and Inter Milan and La Liga aces Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the workhorse.
