Mathare United has praised former Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi and his Lillestroem side for clinching Norwegian Football title after seeing off Sarpsborg 3 - 2.

Origi who launched his career with MYSA in the late nineties won the Norway Cup in 1995 at Ullevall Stadion. Now Mathare has praised him for the achievement after 22 years.

- Interestingly, Origi was part of the Under 12 team that won the first gold medal for MYSA in the 1995 Norway Cup at the same stadium following a 3-2 win over Korsvall in the final. Origi becomes the first foreign player in the history of Norwegian football to win a gold medal as a junior and 22 years later replicate the same feat as a senior player, the club praised the keeper.

The silverware comes just a year after the club secured their top-flight stay as well as celebrating their 100 anniversary in Norway top-flight football, Eliteserien. It was also a career high for coach Asch Arne Erland who won the cup with Lillestrom as a player in 1985.
